Bauhaus100

In 1919, the doors of an art school opened in Germany, marking the onset of a transformative era in art and design. This institution was the Bauhaus, an entity whose legacy continues to influence contemporary life. Bauhaus100 tells the journey of Walter Gropius, the architect who founded the Bauhaus, and the team of innovative educators and students he assembled.

Haunted by the horrors of the Great War, Gropius was resolute in his conviction that technology should be harnessed for creation and not for destruction. With this belief, he set out to overhaul the pedagogy of art and design. The school became the epicenter where various disciplines converged to envision future architecture and redefine modern living.

The poster drew inspiration from the original school logo. The face of the man comprised of black and white squares was given a contemporary interpretation. This modern rendition breathed life into the symbol through the application of colour and the intentional avoidance of definitive gender identities, reflecting the progressive ethos of the Bauhaus.
